Linda Crane Memorial Lecture Award
This award acknowledges an individual who has made outstanding and enduring contributions to the practice of physical therapy as exemplified in the professional career of Linda Crane.
Dr. Linda Crane was a dedicated member of the profession of physical therapy since 1970, and was someone who helped to create a significant part of the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section’s history. She was one of the first three APTA board certified clinical specialists in cardiopulmonary physical therapy (awarded in 1985), and was awarded the Lucy Blair Service Award for distinguished service to the profession in 1992. In the early years of the Cardiopulmonary Section she served as Program Chair, Chairman of the Section (1982-86), and Delegate to the House of Delegates.
Linda’s clinical practice specialty was in the area of pediatric cardiopulmonary physical therapy, and her dissertation for her doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology was entitled “The relationship of degree of kyphosis, bone density and activity history to pulmonary function in postmenopausal women with osteopenia.”
Dr. Crane was a dedicated educator as well, and served on the faculties of University of Connecticut, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of New England, and the University of Miami. Her efforts in the area of education are best known and recognized for the document “Entry Level Competencies in Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy.”
Dr. Linda Crane died on March 24, 1999 after a lengthy battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Merit Award
The award was created to recognize an individual who has contributed to the advancement, knowledge, and/or recognition of the Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy.
Such contribution may be defined as:
1. practice, which includes excellence in patient/client care, clinical accomplishments, in addition to efforts in securing favorable legislation governing clinical practice and reimbursement; and/or 2. scholarship, which includes teaching (patient, clinical, continuing education, academic), or research, and/or authorship (book, journal, editorial board); and/or 3. service, which includes contributions on behalf of the Academy through one’s membership and substantial involvement in support of the Academy.

Mentoring Award
This award was created to recognize members of the Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy whose distinguished careers have resulted in the mentoring of professionals who have gone on to serve others through their teaching, scholarship and/or clinical practice.

This Award was created to recognize members of the Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy who demonstrate clinical excellence, acknowledging Christa Nicole Bauer, who made impactful strides to exemplify clinical excellence in her professional career.

Emerging Leader Award
The award was created to identify and honor one physical therapist or physical therapist assistant “Emerging Leader” from each APTA chapter or section, who has demonstrated extraordinary service early in his or her physical therapy career. The individual should have made exceptional overall accomplishments and contributions to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the CVP Academy, and the physical therapy profession to advance APTA’s vision
