Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Research Grant

Purpose:

The APTA Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy has pledged $150,000 to support a $40,000 research grant every two years through 2028. The initial Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research Grant will open with all other research grant opportunities in April. Foundation for Physical Therapy Research Grant Opportunity

Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy Research Grant

Applications are now open on ProposalCentral.Com for the 2025 Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy Research Grant.

This $40,000 grant supports diagnostic, prognostic, rehabilitative or therapeutic intervention or practice in physical therapy that will decrease cardiovascular disease risks and improve cardiovascular and pulmonary outcomes.  Proposed research must address one or more priority area(s) of the 2023 APTA Research Agenda. Applicants must be licensed physical therapists or physical therapist assistants and members of the APTA Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy.

This grant is generously supported with funds from the APTA Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Human Performance Endowment Fund.

The deadline submission for this grant is July 31 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

 

 

Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Human Performance Endowment Fund

Purpose:

The “Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Human Performance Endowment Fund” was established with the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research in 2006. The Endowment Fund provides funding for scholarships and research grants to investigate physical therapy management of patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary disorders and to investigate physical therapy’s role in prevention, fitness and health promotion.

 This Fund will support an annual Academy Cardio Research Grant. Promotion of Doctoral Studies Scholarships I & II awarded from the Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Human Performance Endowment Fund are named after Scot C Irwin, PT, DPT, CCS. Dr. Irwin was a founding member of the previously named Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section and its first president. He was also one of the first board certified specialists in this practice area. He died unexpectedly in August 2005.

 You may identify the donation as “In Memory of Scot Irwin, P.T., D.P.T., C.C.S.” or specify the Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary PT Human Performance Endowment Fund.
