Volunteer Opportunities

We have openings in the following positions:

Federal Affairs LiaisonFederal Affairs Liaisons (FALs) serve as the link between their component and APTA's Government Affairs Department on federal issues. Each APTA chapter and section president selects one member to serve as that components' FAL for a term of one year. FALs are responsible for disseminating information to their components, maintaining connections to their members of Congress, and providing grassroots input to APTA's Government Affairs Department. FALs also encourage their states to participate in grassroots advocacy activities and leads the August Recess in-district visits for their state.  This position is funded to attend Capitol Hill Day during the Leadership Congress which occurs in Washington DC every other year in July.  Next opportunity to participate will be in 2026.

CSM Booth Coordinator: We are currently seeking 1-2 volunteers to coordinate our booth each year at CSM.  Responsibilities include assisting in setting up and breaking down our booth, communicating with the Executive Director to facilitate booth giveaways and website/eblast updates, taking a leading role at the booth when the exhibit hall is open, coordinating scheduling for booth volunteers to assist, and being familiar with Academy resources and events to answer member questions.  This position is funded to cover travel costs to attend CSM.  We have typically had Co-Coordinators to allow each volunteer to attend some CSM programming. 

PTA Council Representative: Representatives to the APTA PTA Council are PTA members selected by the Academy and confirmed annually. The council is headed by the PTA Council Steering Group. Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), Life Physical Therapist Assistant, or Retired Physical Therapist Assistant members who have been Association members in good standing for two (2) years immediately preceding that session of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Council may serve by appointment by the Board as a PTA Council Representative from the Academy.  Responsibilities: Attend the annual and special meetings of the APTA Physical Therapist Assistant Council PTA Council.  Present to the APTA Physical Therapist Assistant Council PTA Council such matters as are ordered by the Academy Board of Directors and/or Membership. Represent the Academy  on all other matters brought before the APTA Physical Therapist Assistant Council PTA Council.  This position will be considered for funding at attend the Leadership Congress in 2026.
