Call for Volunteer - Program Committee Chair

Term: Recommended three-year term, with no more than two consecutive terms; time commitment varies based on responsibilities; however, responsibilities are ongoing throughout the year.

  • The Program Committee shall plan and conduct the professional program at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting
  • Coordinate meeting needs (scheduling, audiovisual, room setup, catering, etc) with APTA’s Meeting Services Department.
  • Follow procedures and meet deadlines of APTA Meeting Services Department for programming, event sheets, etc.
  • Attend APTA Stakeholder and Program Chair Meetings at CSM and each spring. These meetings serve as a time when general and specific operational issues of programming can be addressed by all sections.
  • Moderate (or arrange for moderation) courses at CSM as needed by introducing speakers, checking environmental conditions (eg, room temperature, AV, room set up), etc.  
  • Coordinate room reservations and catering for the Academy’s Board of Directors Meeting and Business/Membership Meeting.
  • Work with the Executive Director to have speaker contracts signed and returned to the Academy office.
  • The Program Committee shall consist of the Chair and at least two (2) eligible Academy members.
  • The Chair of the Program Committee shall be appointed by the President with advice and consent from the Board of Directors. The appointed Chair shall appoint, with approval of the Executive Committee, the other Program Committee members.
  • Work in conjunction with the Treasurer on the annual budget.
  • The outgoing Chair shall be an ex officio member of the Program Committee for the year following their leaving the position. This member will serve in an advisory capacity so long as such service does not preclude other Section activity.
  • Liaison with the Academy Education Chair regarding continuing education topics
  • Liaison with the Academy Research Chair regarding CSM platform and poster presentations
