2021 Nomination Form ~ Due September 27, 2021

The Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for the 2021 election. Newly elected officers will assume their positions after the CSM 2022 Academy Business Meeting.  We invite you to nominate yourself or other Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Academy Members to be slated for these positions.   

Serving as an elected officer or Nominating Committee member offers wonderful networking possibilities. Please see each position’s duties and responsibilities below. All nominations must be received no later than September 27, 2021.

  • PRESIDENT 
  • NOMINATING COMMITTEE MEMBER  

President

  • The President shall attend CSM and NEXT Conference for HOD.
  • The President shall attend and preside at all meetings of the Academy and the Board of Directors, or delegate that authority to another officer.
  • The President or designee shall attend all APTA meetings in which the President’s presence is required to represent the Academy, including the Section President’s Meeting.
  • The president shall serve as the section delegate at the House of Delegates of the Association.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the BOD and Academy membership to keep on task to the Academy’s mission.
  • Serve on the BOD with one vote.
  • Serve as an ex officio member of all committees, except Nominations.
  • Create and appoint all special and advisory committees necessary to accomplish the function of the Academy with the advice and consent of the Board. Direct correspondence to appropriate persons.
  • Compile and provide President’s agenda items for CSM Board Meeting, submit to Secretary 45 days prior to Board Meeting.
  • Coordinate Business Meeting agenda.
  • Compose an annual calendar, including Academy deadlines and events, and distribute to BOD at meeting.
  • Submit written Section report annually to APTA by February 15 of each year in office.
  • Notify and prepare the Vice President in the event of inability to perform any duty.
  • Appoint members to fill any vacancies in offices for the unexpired portion of the term, with advice and consent of the majority members of the BOD.
  • Appoint Academy liaisons, and act as spokesperson for the Academy.
  • Serve as point of contact for executive director.
  • Compose President’s letter for the quarterly e-newsletter
  • Orient the incoming President Elect following the close of the Business Meeting at CSM.  As part of the orientation process, the immediate past-President shall serve in an advisory capacity for one year so long as such service does not preclude other Academy activity.

Nominating Committee

  • The Nominating Committee of the Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy (CVP) shall consist of three (3) eligible CVP Academy members. One member, elected each year, shall serve a term of three (3) years or until the election or appointment of his or her successor.
  • The senior member of the committee shall serve as Chairperson of the Nominating Committee.
  • The Chairperson shall attend all Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Academy (CVP) Meetings including CVP Board of Directors (BOD) and national meetings including CSM.
  • Only the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee will serve on the CVP Board of Directors (BOD) with one vote
  • The Nominating Committee shall seek out candidates for vacant offices, review their qualifications, ascertain their willingness to serve, and nominate eligible and interested members for each available elected office.
  • The Nominating Committee representative shall submit the slate of nominees to the membership at least ninety (90) days prior to the annual CVP Academy Business Meeting.
  • The outgoing Chair shall be an ex officio member of the Nominating Committee for the year following the expiration of his or her term of office. This member shall serve in an advisory capacity so long as such service does not preclude other Section activity.
  • The Nominating Committee members should solicit nominations for APTA National Awards, Section Merit, Mentor, and Friend of the CV&P Section Awards.
  • The Nominating Committee should review award nominations and then send the completed nominations to the CVP BOD to vote for the award recipients.
  • The Nominating Committee may seek guidance from the CVP BOD as the Committee chooses.
  • Orient the incoming Nominating Committee Chair following the close of the Business Meeting at CSM.  As part of the orientation process, the immediate past- Nominating Committee Chair shall serve in an advisory capacity for one year so long as such service does not preclude other Section activity.
  • The new Nominating Committee Chair will provide orientation and mentoring to the new Nominating Committee Member
